الوصف
Outer copper vessel 125 x 75 mm with perforated shelf and terminal, a porous pot 150 x 50 mm and a zinc rod 125 x 12 mm, with support and terminal.
Features
It was invented in 1836 by John Frederic Daniell. The cell consists of a copper pot (cathode) in a copper(II) sulfate solution and a zinc electrode (anode) in a zinc sulfate solution, separated by a porous barrier. It operates through a spontaneous redox reaction, with electrons flowing from the zinc electrode to the copper electrode. The Daniell cell was a significant improvement over the voltaic pile, as it was designed to eliminate the problem of hydrogen bubbles forming on the copper electrode.
