The Ender-3 V2's "silent" motherboard is a Creality-designed 32-bit mainboard that uses quiet stepper motor drivers to drastically reduce the noise produced during printing.
Features
- Silent operation: The primary feature is its quiet performance, thanks to advanced Trinamic stepper motor drivers. The V4.2.2 typically uses TMC2208 drivers, while the upgraded V4.2.7 uses the slightly improved TMC2225 drivers.
- 32-bit architecture: It replaces the older 8-bit boards with a more powerful 32-bit ARM processor (STM32 CPU). This results in faster processing, improved stability, and the ability to run more complex firmware.
- Pre-installed bootloader: The motherboard comes with a bootloader pre-installed, which simplifies the firmware update process. Users can update the firmware by simply placing the firmware file on a microSD card and powering on the printer.
- Improved safety features: The board includes thermal runaway protection, which automatically shuts down the printer if the temperature rises unexpectedly. It is also protected by a mainboard safety fuse.
- Expanded ports for upgrades: The V4 silent boards offer dedicated ports for popular upgrades. This includes a 5-pin port for an auto-bed-leveling sensor like the BLTouch or CR-Touch and a 3-pin port for a filament runout sensor.
- Increased memory: The board offers more flash storage space than its 8-bit predecessors, allowing it to support full-featured Marlin firmware without sacrificing features.
