The monoFab SRM-20 is a compact, desktop CNC milling machine designed for prototyping, model-making, and subtractive fabrication. Built by Roland DG (under the monoFab series), it offers precision cutting in a small form factor, making it ideal for offices, classrooms, and design studios. It can mill various non-metal materials such as wax, foam, acrylic, ABS, and PC boards. Using the VPanel controller, users can easily set the origin, adjust spindle speed and feed rate, and make fine adjustments on the fly. Its enclosed design with a safety interlock ensures safer operation and helps contain dust.
Features
Independent Collet System for Efficient Milling It’s no longer necessary to change spindles every time there’s a different end mill shank diameter. Now you can replace the collet chuck in order to match the shank diameter for fast setting of the Z-axis base point and for quick tool changes. Smart Yet Rugged The SRM-20 includes the very latest CNC milling features such as airtight sealing technology to prevent waste material from getting inside the spindle and Y-axis, making it resistant to the effects of milling debris and adding durability for long-term operation. Enclosed Cabinet: The machine has a full cover with interlock — if the door opens, milling pauses automatically for safety. Dust Collection Tray: Helps keep work area clean by catching chips and debris. Micro-step Motor Drive: Gives smooth and clean contours even at high feed rates. Fast Feed Rate: According to Roland, the SRM-20’s feed rate is “twice as fast” as previous generation models, boosting productivity. Non-Proprietary Material Support: Works with common prototyping materials (wax, ABS, foam, PC) — no need for special Roland-only stock. G-Code Compatibility: Supports NC code (i.e., standard G-code), giving flexibility to advanced users. Quiet Operation: Low operating noise makes it suitable for office or classroom environments. Safety Features: The interlocked cover ensures milling stops when access door is opened.
