Description
To demonstrate the principle that maximum energy transfer (resonance) occurs when the driving frequency of one pendulum matches the natural frequency of another.
Features
The apparatus typically consists of: A horizontal bar or string from which multiple pendulums are suspended. A "driver" pendulum which is a heavy weight (such as a brass bob or wooden ball) used to initiate the system's motion. Multiple "driven" pendulums (often lighter, such as paper or cardboard cones) of varying lengths, with one or more having the same length and natural frequency as the driver. A stand or frame to support the horizontal bar/string.
