Description

This device is a Nitinol heat engine, which demonstrates the conversion of heat energy into mechanical energy.

Features

The engine uses a Nitinol wire, a type of shape-memory alloy, which has the unique property of returning to its original shape when heated. The wire is formed into a loop and placed around pulleys. When a portion of the wire is heated (e.g., by a cup of hot water), it contracts and pulls on the pulleys, causing the engine to rotate. The engine operates at temperatures between 45 and 90 degrees Celsius.
