Description
This slide presents a thin section of cerebellar tissue, stained using the Cajal method to highlight Purkinje cells, which are large, flask-shaped neurons located in the cerebellar cortex. These cells are critical for motor coordination and are easily identifiable by their prominent dendritic arbor and central nuclei. The slide also shows surrounding granular and molecular layers, allowing students to observe the layered organization of the cerebellum.
Features
Specimen: Human or mammalian cerebellum - Section Type: Very fine histological cut - Staining: Cajal stain - Coloration: Light, for easy examination - Slide Size: Standard 75 × 25 mm glass slide
